The University of Kentucky is reportedly set to meet with one of the many names who could replace John Calipari.
Per Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, “Kentucky plans to officially meet with Baylor’s Scott Drew regarding its head coaching vacancy in the near future.”
Drew is rumored to be a top-three name on the Wildcats’ list of potential candidates along with UConn’s Dan Hurley and Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan.
Donovan said that he hasn’t spoken to anyone in the program and remains committed to his NBA duties.
“I have not been contacted by anybody, I haven’t spoken to anybody,” Donovan told reporters on Tuesday. “My total commitment and focus is here to this team and to this group.”
Scott Drew was reported to have been offered the job yesterday and while there are many conflicting reports about that it’s clear UK has serious interest in the Bears coach.
Drew is 446-244 since taking over at Baylor, winning a national title three years ago and making three straight second-rounds in the NCAA Tournament.
He and Kentucky AD Mitch Barnhart also have a relationship going back to the 2020 NCAA Tournament when as a committee chair Barnhart was assigned to Baylor’s team and stayed at the school’s hotel in the bubble.
