Two new names Kentucky is in the mix for.
We have a new point guard option to monitor for the Kentucky Wildcats.
According to KSR’s Jack Pilgrim, head coach Mark Pope and assistant coach Alvin Brooks III met with Pittsburgh Panthers point guard Jaland Lowe on Wednesday.
Set to be a junior next season, the 6-foot-3, 175-pound Lowe averaged 16.8 points on 37.6% shooting from the field (26.6% on 5.0 3-point attempts per game), 5.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds, 1.8 steals, and 3.0 turnovers in 35.5 minutes per contest. He had a triple-double of 11 points, 10 boards, and 10 assists in a win over VMI.
Another new backcourt option to emerge is San Francisco guard Tyrone Riley, who Kentucky has reportedly either met with or had a Zoom call with, according to Dushawn London of 247 Sports.
Texas, Arkansas, USC, Arizona, and Creighton are among the other schools showing interest. He will have three seasons of eligibility remaining.
Originally a 4-star recruit in the class of 2024, the 6-foot-6, 180-pound Riley signed with San Francisco while holding scholarship offers from Florida, Texas A&M, TCU, Washington State, Cal, and Xavier, among others. He was ranked 125th nationally and 26th among small forwards by 247 Sports Composite.
As a true freshman, the California native averaged 9.6 points on 50.2% shooting (32.2% from deep), 6.0 rebounds, 1.2 steals, and 1.0 assists in 28.2 minutes per game. He was a strong rebounder who collected double-digit boards three times.
