Former four-star forward Adou Thiero has joined a number of his Kentucky teammates in the NCAA transfer portal. Right now, there may only be about a 20-percent chance that he returns to Lexington.
According to ESPN college hoops insider Jeff Borzello, Thiero has narrowed down his list of schools to five. Those five are (in alphabetical order) Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina and Pittsburgh.
247Sports previously graded Thiero as the No. 138 overall prospect in the Class of 2022. He was the No. 20 combo guard in the country and the No. 3 prospect from the state of Pennsylvania.
This past year, Thiero started 19 of 25 games and averaged 7.2 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. Borzello noted that he projects as a first-round pick in the 2025 NBA Draft.
Some fans are speculating as to which of the new teams he’s likely to go to, while others believe that he would be best-served going back to Kentucky.
“Stay at UK, Adou! You’re an awesome player and would be such an asset to Pope’s team next year!” one user declared.
“Kentucky still on the list. Would be a helluva nice piece for Mark Pope to keep,” wrote another.
“Given the other schools on the list, I feel like coming back to play at home must be a major plus for Adou. Now let’s see if we can make the $$$ work,” a third wrote.
Where do you think Thiero will play next season? Will he return to Kentucky or play elsewhere?
