“We are excited to continue the series with Gonzaga in Nashville next season,” UK head coach Mark Pope said in a press release. “I have a ton of respect for Mark Few and his program, which has been one of the best over the last two decades. We want to continue to put our team in challenging situations and provide BBN with opportunities to see Kentucky’s team play across the country. Nashville has been good to BBN over the years, and we look forward to seeing lots of Blue in Bridgestone Arena in December.”
This will be the fourth straight year the teams face off. The series is tied 2-2 all-time. In the most recent meeting, Kentucky matched the largest halftime deficit overcome in program history to down a top-10 Gonzaga team in Seattle, 90-89, in overtime. The Wildcats trailed by as many as 18 and were without Lamont Butler before rallying to victory.
Gonzaga won the first two meetings in the current series, while the Cats earned their first victory vs. the Bulldogs in 2002 at the Maui Invitational.
