Brea’s sharpshooting would be welcome at the highest level in basketball.
While the Kentucky Wildcats could have several players knocking on the door of the late second round, Koby Brea may be the only one who hears his name called.
Other names like Amari Williams and Lamont Butler could get drafted, but for separate reasons, may drop out and eventually be scooped up to join a summer league squad.
Brea is a star in the making, and after leaving Dayton to join the Wildcats for this past season, he was able to show that talent on the highest collegiate level. The SEC had a historically great season, and Brea was a key player for one of the best programs in the conference.
For his efforts, the senior sharpshooter was good enough to make the cut in ESPN’s updated mock draft.
Brea, per Jonathan Givony and Jeremy Woo, comes in at No. 54 to the Indiana Pacers. With several playmakers on the team already, that would be a great fit for Brea to find his place at the NBA level.
The 22-year-old Brea had the best season of his five-year collegiate career with Kentucky, spending all four prior to the Flyers, and he shot a conference-best 43.5% from deep to go along with 47% from the field and 91.4% from the free-throw line.
He ended up averaging 11.6 points per game. Brea neared 50% — 49.8% to be exact — from deep in his last season with Dayton.
