Several SEC schools and blue bloods are vying for arguably the best available transfer.
The Kentucky Wildcats are set to get a visit from one of the best transfer portal recruits still available.
According to 247 Sports reporter Dushawn London, Sam Houston guard Lamar Wilkerson is planning visits to Kentucky, Indiana, Auburn, and Ole Miss before making a decision. A schedule of visits has not yet been announced.
A 6-foot-5 guard from Ashdown, Arkansas, Wilkerson just finished his third season for the Bearkats in the Sun Belt. This past season, he averaged 20.5 points per game on 47.7% shooting from the field and 44.5% from deep. He also added 4.0 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.
Wilkerson is arguably the best transfer available and easily one of the best shooting guards to enter the portal this cycle. Kentucky is making a strong push, but Indiana has been seen as the favorite. Arkansas was another team getting traction, but for now, the Hogs aren’t getting a visit.
Will Mark Pope be able to reel in one more big fish from the portal?
