“They say to never meet your heroes. Well I am glad my son and I did!”
Kentucky Wildcats point guard Lamont Butler went viral on social media for his heartwarming interaction with a young fan and his father.
A fan posted on Facebook about how he took his son Boone to a game inside Rupp Arena vs. Brown and mentioned that his son Boone had been diagnosed with a rare skin condition called Epidermolysis Bullosa.
In the post, the father of Boone describes his son as a big Kentucky basketball fan, and an even bigger fan of Butler. Boone’s parents sent Butler a picture of Boone in the jersey with the hope of Butler seeing it. Butler responded back immediately and offered the family to meet him at the next home game against Texas A&M.
After the game, Butler walked straight up to Boone and then proceeded to sign his jersey and a ball for him. A quote in this touching post says, “They say to never meet your heroes. Well I am glad my son and I finally did!”
Butler continues to make a big impact on the BBN in what will be his only season in Lexington.
Very cool story about the kindness of Lamont Butler
