Can the Cats pull off the upset?
Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats are looking to potentially add one final piece to the puzzle in the 2025 class in 5-star wing Nate Ament.
Ranked as a top-five recruit by every service, Ament is the big fish this staff has been hoping to land in this class, and it sounds like they will get the final visit from the talented forward.
Joe Tipton of On3 gave an update on this recruitment, and it sounds like Ament will be in Lexington for the Cats’ matchup with Tennessee next Tuesday.
“A visit to Kentucky is next, which will likely be his last college stop before he enters decision-making mode. The target date for his trip to Lexington is next Tuesday, February 11th. The Wildcats will take on Tennessee that day,” wrote Tipton.
Fighting with Duke, Louisville, Notre Dame, and the Vols for his commitment, here is what Tipton had to say about Kentucky’s chances.
“UK has some ground to make up here as Ament is pretty down the road with other schools, but I’m told the five-star will keep an open mind heading into his Kentucky visit next week and is willing to hear Mark Pope out,” Tipton says. “This is a make-or-break type of visit for the ‘Cats. UK is also known to be very competitive from an NIL perspective.”
Adding Ament would help solidify the roster for next season and add another option for play-making (which we have seen is desperately needed).
Can Mark Pope and his staff pull it off? We will now have to wait and see how him and his family like Lexington.
Fox reporter Aaron Torres also gave his own update on Ament’s recruitment, which you can see below.
