Kentucky is making a push. Will it be enough to overcome Duke, Louisville, and others?
The Kentucky Wildcats are looking to add one more major player to the class of 2025 as five-star wing Nate Ament has become a serious option for Mark Pope and his staff.
After a recent visit to Lexington, questions have loomed about how serious the Cats could be in this recruitment. It appears they have a legitimate shot to land the talented forward, but they likely aren’t in the lead…for now.
Travis Branham of 247 Sports joined the 247 Sports YouTube channel to discuss the latest on the recruitment of Ament. Branham believes the Duke is at the top in its own tier, and right behind is Kentucky and Louisville in their own tier.
Branham did make sure to say there’s not much of a gap between said tiers. He later added that a decision could come in the next 2-to-4 weeks.
Overall, it sounds like this recruitment has become a three-horse race with Kentucky entering the picture coming down the stretch. But still, it sounds like Duke is still a slight favorite, with UK and Louisville slightly behind.
There is a major wildcard that Branham notes as well in John Calipari and Arkansas. Ament has not made the trip to Fayetteville, but it sounds like Coach Cal and his staff are not giving up hope just yet.
We are still waiting to see if Coach Pope and this staff can land the big recruit (with no ties to the state of Kentucky), and it sounds like there is a real shot in this one.
Keep your eyes peeled, BBN. It could be an interesting next few months on the recruiting trail.
