“That is the best offensive Power Four team we’ve played in my six years at Lipscomb.”
Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats had another great offensive performance on Tuesday night against Lipscomb, where the Cats won 97-68, nearly breaking the century mark for a third time in four games.
This season, Kentucky ranks 11th nationally at 94.3 points per game. Miami, Penn State, North Carolina, and Arizona are the only Power Four offenses averaging more points than the Cats.
With that in mind, Lipscomb head coach Lennie Acuff, who has coached against numerous Power Four programs, described Mark Pope’s offense as the most potent he has ever encountered.
“I am tremendously impressed,” Acuff said while highlighting Kentucky’s dynamic offensive firepower and versatility. “We play a lot of these games. We play a lot of them, and we’ve done well in a lot of them. That is the best offensive Power Four team we’ve played in my six years at Lipscomb. I am going to tell you what: If (Lamont) Butler, (Jaxson) Robinson, and (Koby) Brea play like that, they are going to be a tough out.”
Kentucky had four players score in double digits against Lipscomb, with Robinson leading the way with 20 points, then Butler with 16 points, Otega Oweh with 14 points, and Brea with 12 points.
If the Cats keep this up, this has the potential to be a special one in Lexington.
