Much of the second half was off the air.
One of the few college basketball games on ABC this season, and the Kentucky Wildcats’ first and only, didn’t go quite as planned.
The Auburn Tigers were in the middle of an old-fashioned whooping on the Wildcats when the ABC feed inexplicably cut out midway through the second half — with around 12 minutes remaining in the game.
Per Matt Jones, there was a major production truck malfunction outside of Rupp Arena, and power being restored before the end of the game is highly unlikely, though the game seemed more than over before halftime.
BREAKING:
I am told there was a major technical issue outside of Rupp Arena by the ABC TV truck and it lost all power
Trying to find backup power now but not sure it will happen before the end

After the broadcast went off, Auburn kept the high-quality play going and abused Kentucky on both ends of the floor. Injuries have taken a massive toll on Mark Pope’s first team, but the issues with this team against Auburn seem much more deep-rooted than just missing Jaxson Robinson — they looked scared and shellshocked by Bruce Pearl’s squad.
Kentucky will hope Robinson avoided a season-ending injury because come SEC and NCAA Tournament time, Kentucky will need to be at full strength or else a March run seems like a long shot.
We’re aware of the technical difficulties ABC is experiencing broadcasting today’s @kentuckymbb game.
They’re working to restore the broadcast as soon as possible.
