The Cats stomped Vandy while playing for the state.
The Kentucky Wildcats were back in action Wednesday inside Rupp Arena against a talented Vanderbilt Commodores team.
Mark Pope and the Cats were coming off a disappointing loss to Texas but bounced back in a major way, dominating Vandy 82-61.
This game was not only an important one on the court but off the court as well, raising some money and donations for the victims of the floods across the bluegrass.
The team loaded up a massive truck with donations, before tip off, for the victims before the game and showed that the state of Kentucky is a place.
“We talked about it as a team before the game. It was a theme for us, just the opportunity we had tonight to do our part to serve those people who are going through what they are right now,” Pope stated in his postgame press conference.
Pope wasn’t the only Wildcat to show respect to the victims in Eastern Kentucky. Amari Williams also made a point to make a statement as well.
“Today, this game meant a lot for us, especially for the people out in Eastern Kentucky in the floods. Just coming out and playing for the state and those guys, that’s the reason why,” said Williams/
Back on the hardwood, Otega Oweh led the way for Kentucky with 20 points, followed by Williams with 17.
The team needed this dominant win in such a stacked conference this season and will look to continue the winning trend against Alabama.
