This is great.
Mark Pope and his Kentucky Wildcats are enjoying some much-needed rest as they heal up before heading to Nashville for a date with the Vanderbilt Commodores.
That didn’t stop the UK head coach from going through his weekly radio show on Monday night, and the BBN got a little look into who Coach Pope was as a player, mostly his pregame routine.
A listener asked Pope if he had any pregame rituals, and the UK head coach doesn’t have any currently. But in his playing days, he dove into some Kenny G.
“I’ll share some really humiliating, embarrassing things. There was a time when I used to have hype songs,” said Pope. “Actually, it was not. It was like relaxing songs. It was songs to get me to just relax, because sometimes I can be a little bit hyper.
“So, in high school, I went through this span. There was actually a time where my pregame music was a Kenny G soundtrack. How embarrassing is that?”
What a wild time it must have been in that locker room. At the same time, who doesn’t enjoy a little Kenny G?
