The coach is back to having fun.
The Kentucky Wildcats beat the No. 6 Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday in one of the best moments of the Mark Stoops era.
The Cats defense once again played well, allowing just 17 points to the Rebels, a team with one of the most dynamic offenses in the nation. Jaxson Dart, a legitimate Heisman finalist, was largely held in check by the defense, which already looks like one of Stoops’ best units in 12 years at Kentucky.
The Kentucky offense found some rhythm as well. Georgia transfer QB Brock Vandagriff ended with 243 passing yards and a score. Wide receiver Dane Key secured eight of his 18 completions for 105 yards and that lone touchdown.
The Cats didn’t get much going on the ground, but their defense held score, allowing just one touchdown through the air and one on the ground.
It was such an impressive performance that Stoops was seen crowd-surfing afterward in the locker room.

Let’s just say that is very telling of just how massive of a win this team got Saturday afternoon.
The Cats have a bye and then a few very winnable games against Vanderbilt, Florida, and Auburn, as well as a home game vs. Murray State. The Cats also host what should be a ranked Louisville team in the regular-season finale.
After wondering if this team could reach six wins, it’s time to start dreaming bigger.
