The Kentucky offense derailed after a strong first quarter
Saturday night felt like an opportunity for Mark Stoops and the Kentucky Wildcats to get back on track while hosting a struggling Auburn Tigers football team.
The Cats did the complete opposite, allowing Auburn to come into Lexington and win its first SEC game of the season 24-10.
The offense, which has been horridly inconsistent this season, came out swinging in the first quarter, taking an early 10-0 lead.
For the remainder of the game the Auburn defense shut out Kentucky and did not allow another point to be scored.
We even saw an official quarterback change with Mark Stoops benching Brock Vandagriff for Gavin Wimsatt in the second half.
There was speculation that this could have been injury-related, but Stoops confirmed after the loss that it was not. He just wanted Wimsatt to get a look.
Mark Stoops said there was “no health situation” that kept QB Brock Vandagriff out of the game in the second half. “Just wanted to get a good look at Gavin to see if he could help us move the ball,” Stoops said.

Regardless of the quarterback in the game, it is clear the Bush Hamdan experience has been a disaster this season.
Hamdan has guys like Dane Key, Barion Brown, and other weapons but has been unable to find a consistent rhythm the entire season.
