Key has been a bright spot in a lost season.
It’s obvious the Kentucky Wildcats have had their share of struggles this season, especially on the offensive side of the ball and particularly with their passing attack.
Dane Key, however, has been a bright spot for the Wildcats all year, especially over the last five games. He’s built a connection with quarterback Brock Vandagriff and even made plays with backup Gavin Wimsatt in the second half of Saturday’s loss to Auburn.
The Lexington native has caught at least four balls in five consecutive games and topped 80 receiving yards in four of the same five contests.

Key leads the team in receptions (39), yards (587), and average yards per reception (15.1) with a minimum of five catches. Not only has the junior wideout been Kentucky’s most productive pass catcher, but it’s not really been that close.
Fellow junior Barion Brown is second in receptions (23) and yards (278), with Kentucky’s other receivers even farther behind him.
Key also owns the team’s highest Pro Football Focus grade (83.7) among players who’ve logged at least 50 snaps. He’s been stellar for the Wildcats, and they will need him to take it up another notch if they hope to pose any sort of threat to the Tennessee Volunteers (Saturday) and Texas Longhorns (November 23rd).
