The Kentucky Wildcats picked up another premier win over the weekend by edging out No. 6 Florida on Saturday, 106-100.
The popular opinion was that Kentucky didn’t get the “home whistle” despite playing in Rupp Arena and yet they still persevered after a slow start to put a stamp on the victory.
Mark Pope and his team now have top-10 wins over Duke, Gonzaga, and Florida. It’s quite the resume, considering Kentucky is just one game into Southeastern Conference play.
CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish likes what he’s seeing from the Wildcats, sliding them up a spot from No. 9 to No. 8 in his latest Top-25 and-1.
ESPN’s Basketball Power Index agrees, moving Kentucky up from No. 18 to No. 15 in their rankings, though still a spot behind Florida.
DRatings also moved the Wildcats up from No. 25 to No. 22, and Haslametrics slid them up from No. 31 to No. 26, while EvanMiya kept Kentucky at No. 19.
Finally, the latest NET rankings have Kentucky at No. 12, despite having wins over No. 2 Duke, No. 6 Gonzaga, and No. 8 Florida. No other team has three wins vs. top-10 teams.

Also, a big shoutout to the women’s basketball team, who just completed a mighty impressive week of blowout wins vs. Mississippi State and at Vanderbilt. Sitting at No. 16 in the most recent polls, Kenny Brooks’ squad is due for a big bump in the women’s rankings.
