It sounds like we’ll see Butler in a Kentucky jersey again.
Update: Adding to the positive vibes, Mark Pope gave a very encouraging update on Lamont Butler prior to Kentucky basketball’s matchup with Alabama.
“We got the best positive news about Lamont,” said Pope. “He’s gonna be in good shape, but we’re going to sit him tonight. We look forward to having him moving forward.”
Absolutely wonderful news!

The Kentucky Wildcats may be getting set to face the Alabama Crimson Tide, but much of the focus in the Bluegrass is on the health of Lamont Butler.
When Butler went down early in Thursday’s win over the Oklahoma Sooners after hurting his previously injured shoulder, many in the BBN wondered if that was the last we’d ever see of him in a Kentucky jersey.
Thankfully, it sounds like there’s a chance the fifth-year senior and Final Four hero at San Diego State will suit up again.
According to KSR’s Matt Jones, there have been “good vibes” around the program today about Butler’s status moving forward, though it’s unclear when an actual return may come.
Now, we shouldn’t expect to see Butler again in the SEC Tournament, even if UK by some miracle makes it to Sunday’s championship game. However, having him for the NCAA Tournament is the No. 1 goal.
Let’s hope that Butler will be able to suit up next Thursday/Friday when Kentucky plays its first game in the Big Dance.
