Will the Cats pick up a win in Nashville?
After a week off, the Kentucky Wildcats return to action looking to get back in the win column as they go on the road for a matchup with the Vanderbilt Commodores.
The Commodores have had a strong season thus far under new head coach Mark Byington, who came to Vanderbilt after leading James Madison to the NCAA Tournament last year.
The Commodores are 15-4 on the season, including a 3-3 mark in SEC play, which includes home wins over Tennessee and South Carolina, along with a road win at LSU.
Vanderbilt is led by four transfers, headlined by North Texas transfer Jason Edwards, who leads the ‘Dores in scoring at around 17 points per game while shooting just under 39% from 3.
Michigan State transfer AJ Hoggard has also been key for Vanderbilt this season, averaging 11 points per game and a team-high 4.4 assists.
Boston College transfer Devin McGlockton and Virginia Tech transfer Tyler Nickel also average 10 points per game for this Vandy squad, and McGlockton leads the team in rebounding at about eight rebounds per game.
Kentucky enters Saturday afternoon’s matchup coming off a close loss last Saturday at home to the Alabama Crimson Tide. The Crimson Tide, of course, hosted Vanderbilt Tuesday night and picked up a 103-87 victory.
The Cats would love to pick up a big road win in conference play and get some momentum going as we near the midpoint of conference play and keep pace in an ultra-competitive SEC.
Will the Cats defeat the Commodores in Nashville? Or will Vanderbilt pull another upset? Let us know in the poll below and in the comment section!
