Kentucky looks to bounce back with a road win against a top-25 Ole Miss squad.
The Kentucky Wildcats are on the road in Oxford, Mississippi, tonight, taking on the Ole Miss Rebels in a top-25 SEC matchup.
The Rebels enter tonight’s matchup at 16-6 with a 5-4 mark in SEC play. That includes a win at Alabama. However, the Rebels have hit a rough patch in the season, losing four of their last five games with the lone win in that stretch being a home win against Texas.
The big question for tonight’s game is the status of senior guard Matthew Murrell. Murrell popped up on the injury report as “questionable” yesterday but should play. He’s been questionable or probable on the injury report for several weeks.
If Murrell can’t go for the Rebels, that would be a notable loss, as the 5th-year senior is the second-leading scorer at just over 11 points per game along with 2 steals per game.
Sean Pedulla, the Virginia Tech transfer, leads this Ole Miss squad with 15 points per game to go along with 3 rebounds and 3 assists while shooting 40 percent from deep.
Kentucky, of course, is looking to bounce back from an embarrassing loss at home last Saturday to Arkansas. That loss dropped Kentucky to 4-4 in SEC play, so tonight represents an opportunity for Kentucky to get back above .500 in conference play.
Kentucky will be without point guard Lamont Butler again tonight. That certainly will play a role against an Ole Miss team led by guards.
This will be a tough matchup for Kentucky in Oxford, as Ole Miss looks to add more quality wins to its resume, but Kentucky will be looking to get the bitter taste out of their mouths left from Saturday’s clunker in Lexington.
Ole Miss enters the game as a 4.5-point favorite. What do you think the outcome will be of tonight’s game? Let us know in the poll below or in the comments.
