Could be the start of something great.
Rajon Rondo, a former Kentucky Wildcats standout guard, had an illustrious NBA career, and he finally hung those shoes up this past April.
Rondo played more than a decade and a half with numerous teams and was an NBA Champion multiple times as well.
Now, Rondo is joining his former head coach, Doc Rivers, with the Milwaukee Bucks. He’ll be a guest coach with the Bucks in the coming months as the new NBA season starts to heat up.
Rondo spoke about the new endeavor via ESPN’s Baxter Holmes.
“You just can’t say, I’m going to be a coach, and then everything works out and that’s how it happens. So certain personalities have to mesh, [and there’s] a lot of sacrifice. There are certain things that I’m learning. The morning meetings, the amount of hours you’re spending watching film, it’s a lot,” he said.
It seems like an obvious first step for Rondo, who was among the best floor generals in the NBA over the last few decades.
Players like Jason Kidd, Chauncey Billups, and many other former elite point guards have tried out coaching, and it certainly isn’t easy. It’ll be interesting to see how Rondo adjusts to coaching.
