Two of the best in the business say Kentucky gets this highly-touted transfer.
The Kentucky Wildcats could be closing in on their next transfer portal commitment.
San Diego State forward Magoon Gwath was among the first wave of portal prospects Kentucky contacted.
Now, 247 Sports recruiting ace Travis Branham has logged a prediction in favor of the Wildcats to land Gwath. On3’s Joe Tipton has followed suit. The Michigan Wolverines have also been a strong suitor, but it appears Kentucky may be close to getting this done.
An unranked class of 2023 recruit, Gwath redshirted in the 2023-24 season, partly due to a foot injury, so he would have practiced alongside Lamont Butler before the latter transferred to Kentucky.
Gwath would become a breakout player this past season for the Aztecs. In 26 games (all starts), the 7-foot, 205-pound he averaged 8.5 points on 50.6% shooting (37.8% on 1.7 3-point attempts per game), 5.2 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game. He missed five games due to a hyperextended knee.
Kentucky currently has three incoming high school recruits in Malachi Moreno, Acaden Lewis, and Jasper Johnson, while Tulane guard Kam Williams is the school’s lone transfer portal commitment.
It might be time to go on BOOM watch.
