Mark Pope and the Kentucky Wildcats are already getting to work on building their 2024 roster.
According to Dick Weiss of the New York Daily News, Kentucky has its eye on a pair of big transfers this spring.
“Kentucky basketball is actively pursuing transfer guard Elijah Hawkins from Minnesota and has shown interest in [All-Big East] guard Kadary Richmond from [Seton] Hall,” Weiss reported.
Richmond averaged nearly 16 points per game for the Pirates last season to go along with seven rebounds, 5.1 assists while also leading the Big East in steals. Meanwhile, Hawkins averaged 9.5 points, 7.5 assists, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.6 swipes a night for the Golden Gophers.
On top of Richmond’s first-team all-conference honors, the senior was also named to the NIT’s All-Tournament team for his all-around performance along the Pirates’ championship run.
Both potential transfers can stuff the stat sheet for UK’s backcourt and fit right into the culture that Mark Pope is trying to establish in Lexington,
It’s time for Kentucky basketball to start winning games in March again and additions like this should only help that moving forward.
