The jokes were flying on social media following Kentucky’s latest NCAA Tournament first round exit Thursday night.
The best one came Memphis Grizzlies television host Jessica Benson, who compared the Wildcats to Kate Middleton, the Princess of Whales, for their March disappearances.
“Big month for UK disappearing acts,” Benson wrote.

Middleton, of course, has been a mysterious figure since undergoing abdominal surgery in January. Her whereabouts have been a major topic throughout the United Kingdom and beyond among those who follow the Royal Family.
According to the most recent update from Kensington Palace, Middleton has been “working from home on a special project” as she recovers, according to the New York Post.
As for Kentucky, they are going home after one game for the second time in the last three NCAA Tournaments. The Wildcats have not advanced to the second weekend since 2019 and have just one NCAA Tournament win and one SEC Tournament victory in the last five years.
Seeded third in the South Region, Kentucky lost 80-76 to No. 14 seed Oakland Thursday night. The Golden Grizzlies were led by guard Jack Gohlke’s 32 points on 10-of-20 three-pointers.
With the win, Oakland moves on to the second round on Saturday, where they await the winner of NC State-Texas Tech.
