Coach Pitino will be in the house for Cats vs. Dores.
Rick Pitino is coming back to the Bluegrass!
On Tuesday, the former Kentucky Wildcats head coach announced he would be present for Saturday’s showdown between the Cats and the Vanderbilt Commodores.
The St. John’s coach even joked that he would be helping Mark Stoops coach.
Yes, I will be flying in for the UK/Vandy game on Sat. I’ll be on the sidelines helping Coach Stoops

It’s no secret that Coach Pitino has had quite the journey when it comes to the Bluegrass and its top sports teams. After leading Kentucky back to glory in the 90s, he left for the NBA and eventually became the Louisville Cardinals head coach.
From there, Pitino’s relationship with the Big Blue Nation was severely strained as he coached Kentucky’s biggest rival. However, many of those wounds slowly healed over time once Pitino left Louisville in ruins.
Things have really gotten better since Mark Pope, a former Wildcat under Pitino, became the new head coach of Kentucky basketball. Pitino has even donated to Kentucky football, so it’s clear he still has a strong love for the school and its athletics programs.
You love to see it.
