A sad day for the sports world.
Good morning, BBN.
Well, it’s not the best morning. Last night, we discovered that beloved CBS Sports Broadcaster and Legend Greg Gumbel passed away.
He was 78 years old and had been battling cancer; you can read more about that from the Gumbel family statement here, along with CBS’ statement here.
Selection Sunday won’t be the same, and we should all prepare tissues for when it comes around this year, and CBS pays tribute to Gumbel.
He was loved across sports, primarily in the NFL and college basketball. Gumbel was one of the greatest storytellers of all time. All sports fans will surely miss him.
