Missouri is cruising into February.
Greetings, BBN!
The Missouri Tigers are soaring heading into February and is leading one of the most remarkable turnarounds in recent SEC history. The Tigers, after going 0-18 in league play last season, are 6-2 and 17-4 overall while touting a top-15 ranking.
Last Saturday, they faced then-#14 Mississippi State in Starkville and won by a whopping 27 points to follow up a home win over #16 Ole Miss on the weekend before—and that’s not even mentioning the road win at #5 Florida on January 14th.
Here are your SEC standings as of February 3rd:
SEC Basketball Standings

Notes:
- Alabama is right on Auburn’s tail, with their only blemish still being a home loss to Ole Miss in mid-January. They’ll have two cracks at Auburn during the remainder of conference play, and it looks like those’ll decide the regular season crown.
- As the AP rankings currently sit, the Crimson Tide’s three games in March will be the following: #3 Alabama vs #4 Tennessee, #6 Florida at #3 Alabama, and #3 Alabama at #1 Auburn. This is a league of heavyweight bouts!
- Kentucky is 4-4 halfway through SEC play and has 10 games left: Five at home and five on the road. Tuesday’s bout with Ole Miss will determine whether they reach the halfway point with a winning or losing conference record.
- Arkansas may have gotten its second league win, but to finish respectably in the standings it probably needs to hit 8-10, which means it needs to go 6-4 the rest of the way, which when you’re facing a ranked opponent almost every night that is quite difficult.
- Biggest game midweek: #15 Missouri at #4 Tennessee.
