Vanderbilt! Arkansas! Chaos!
Greetings, BBN!
Run for your lives! Duck and cover! Anarchy is upon us! The SEC has been turned upside down, and pigs are flying and Vanderbilt has thrown their goalposts downriver. When you see the Vanderbilt Commodores standing over Alabama in a football game, you know it’s time to flee to the mountains.
Last Saturday marked the first time in conference history two top-five AP SEC teams lost to unranked opponents. Three top-10 teams lost overall, as Missouri also fell on the road to Texas A&M.
But can you believe it—Vanderbilt 40, Alabama 35! Football fans all over America will remember where they were when that game happened for decades!
Here’s the full standings breakdown entering Week 7. Everything has been thrown into chaos:
SEC Standings Week 7
Notes:
- After Saturday’s revolution, Texas is now the only remaining undefeated team down South.
- Vanderbilt’s win over Alabama was not just their first ever win over a #1 team, but their first ever win over any top-5 team! They were 0-60 previously.
- Arkansas’s season and Coach Pittman’s job might’ve been saved Saturday. As Hogs fans rushed the field after the toppling of #4 Tennessee, the Razorbacks improved to 4-2 and will almost certainly make a bowl with their remaining schedule, and they undoubtedly have their sights higher than just 6-6.
- Ole Miss went back to their dominant ways against South Carolina last weekend. In the five games this year they haven’t played Kentucky, the Rebels have allowed a grand total of one touchdown (Georgia Southern, Week 4, 2nd quarter).
- Florida might’ve won this week against the Big 12’s UCF, but they’re extremely fragile. One more lost opportunity in a winnable game is all it’ll likely take to send them crashing down to 5-7. In two weeks Kentucky can come in and do just that.
- At one point Texas A&M lead Missouri 34-0. Remember, their one loss was in the non-con to Notre Dame. They are quietly sneaking into the SEC champThe Aggies also have the extreme luxury of not having Georgia or Alabama on their schedule. If they keep cruising like they are, the season finale against Texas might be repeated a week later!
