Kentucky can only go up from here.
Kentucky football has been one of the lower ranked offenses in the country for the last couple of seasons. Despite both a quarterback and offensive coordinator change for this year, head coach Mark Stoops and his team simply couldn’t put the ball in the end zone.
The Wildcats not only struggled on offense but went 1-7 in Southeastern Conference play with their only victory coming on the road at Ole Miss late in the game. While that was a terrific win for Stoops and his resume, the other 11 games Kentucky has played have (for the most part) been an abysmal effort in regards to executing on offense and being efficient.
Kentucky’s 31-14 loss at Texas on Saturday finished their SEC slate of the 2024 season in which the Wildcats severely struggled to score the football. In fact, Kentucky scored just 10 offensive touchdowns in eight SEC games this season — which is certainly discouraging.

Stoops and his team were also held to under 21 points in each of their SEC games this season for the first time since the 80’s. Which, by doing some quick math, can be explained by the Wildcats scoring just 10 total offensive touchdowns in conference play.
If Kentucky doesn’t score a touchdown on this drive, it will be the first time since an 0-10-1 season in the 80s that the Wildcats were held to fewer than 21 points in every SEC game.

Cutter Boley appears to be the future of the program and it’s fantastic that he saw the entire second half against both Murray State as well as Texas. Maybe fans will get to see Boley put together a full game against Louisville on Saturday. Only time will tell, though.
