Last night was a big night for two UK programs
Happy Thanksgiving to all of the Big Blue Nation and A Sea of Blue readers!
I hope today is filled with plenty of food, family, football, and fun for all of you!
Let’s get into some headlines really quick.
Last night was a good night for UK Athletics.
The Kentucky Wildcats Volleyball team defeated Missouri 3-1 to clinch an outright SEC championship and secure the SEC’s automatic qualification spot into the 2024 NCAA Tournament.
That makes eight straight SEC championships for UK Volleyball with five outright titles during that time span.
Last night was also a milestone for UK Head Coach Craig Skinner, who won his 300th career SEC match with the victory over Missouri, adding to his place as the winningest head coach in Kentucky Volleyball history.
It was also a big night for Coach Kenny Brooks and the UK Women’s Basketball team, as the Wildcats dominated the fourth quarter against 19th-ranked Illinois, coming away with a 76-53 win in the Music City Classic.
The game was tied at 28-28 headed into halftime, and Kentucky built a 50-44 lead after three. Kentucky dominated the final frame, outscoring Illinois 26-9 in the final frame to earn the win and improve to 7-0 for the first time since 2019.
Brooks and the Wildcats now prepare for the SEC/ACC challenge where they take on North Carolina on Thursday, December 5.
