The Lyon County native is excited to wear the blue and white.
The Kentucky Wildcats have a completely new roster, and by now, most names will be familiar to many across the BBN. However, there is one name that most in the fanbase have been following for quite some time: freshman guard Travis Perry.
Perry, a Lyon County native, committed to UK early in the class of 2024 but is most known across the Bluegrass for his prolific scoring during his high school career.
Now, he is excited to rock the Kentucky uniform. He was recently featured in a conversation with Club Blue and was asked about what kept him home instead of committing elsewhere.
“Being from Kentucky, it’s always been my dream to play at UK,” Perry said. “When Coach Pope got the job and seeing the system that he runs, the type of person he is, and how passionate he is, it’s really incredible.”
He is also pumped to be a hometown hero.
“I think anywhere else in the world, it would probably be a villain on the road. But playing at Kentucky, being a hero at home is something that you can’t experience anywhere else,” he said. “Being able to have that, being the hero at home in front of the fans, Big Blue Nation, that’s something that’s better than being a villain on the road.”
Perry has seemingly put himself into the rotation this season as the coaching staff has and teammates have been adamant of how great his shooting is. As long as his defense can keep up, it would be safe to bet we will see Perry make an impact this season for the Cats.
