It’s GAME DAY for Kentucky basketball.
The Kentucky Wildcats take on Lipscomb tonight for their first game since the team’s triumphant win over the Duke Blue Devils a week ago.
The Wildcats enter the game now ranked inside the top-10 at No. 9 and have a chance to build even more momentum over the next few weeks.
This game against Lipscomb is the first of four (with Jackson State, Western Kentucky and Georgia State to follow) that Kentucky will have at least a 96% chance to win (according to ESPN’s Basketball Power Index) before they play at Clemson and at No. 3 Gonzaga.
It’s an important stretch early in the season for Mark Pope’s team to cement themselves as a top team in the country by taking care of business in games they should dominate. Avoiding any stains on their resume come March will be the recipe for a better position in what is now looking like a relatively high chance at a premier seed in the NCAA Tournament.
But enough talk of March Madness and the postseason… Let’s take one game at a time and enjoy every second of Pope’s first season as the head coach of Kentucky basketball.
Tonight’s game against Lipscomb is scheduled to tip off at 7 PM ET with coverage on EPSN+.
