For now, Kentucky will keep these two assistants.
Kentucky Wildcats associate head coach Vince Marrow has been a cornerstone of the football program since 2013, earning a reputation for landing key recruits and standing by Mark Stoops through thick and thin.
However, that loyalty was tested recently.
On Sunday, news broke that Marrow was considering a move to join the Louisville Cardinals coaching staff in a similar role, according to Nick Roush of KSR.
Thankfully, that’s not happening, at least for now anyway.
During a Monday appearance on KSR, Marrow shot those rumors down.
“Well, I’m not going to comment on that, because when you hear rumors, unless you take a job or you put out that you’re taking a job, it’s just rumors. And you know, I’m here,” Marrow said.
Even so, the timing of these rumors is concerning for Kentucky, which recently lost two recruits from its 2025 class — offensive tackle Tucker Kattus and running back Marquise Davis. Those were guys Marrow played a big hand in getting for Kentucky.
For Kentucky, losing Marrow would be a major setback, particularly as the program looks to recover from a disappointing 4-8 season. Beyond the immediate personnel impact, his departure might reflect broader dissatisfaction within the coaching staff and the trajectory of the Wildcats under Stoops.
Elsewhere, it appears Kentucky dodged a bullet with defensive coordinator Brad White, who’s been rumored to be an option for the Florida State Seminoles defensive coordinator role.
However, that job is reportedly going to Nebraska defensive coordinator Tony White, who is set to take the same role with the Seminoles.
So, for now, Kentucky still has arguably its two best assistant coaches. Let’s hope it stays that way, as Mark Stoops needs those two in order to help get this program back in a positive direction.
