Kentucky adds another piece to the Big Blue Wall.
The Kentucky Wildcats are on the board again, and this one is another pickup for the Big Blue Wall.
On Wednesday, New Mexico offensive tackle Wallace Unamba committed to Kentucky, according to KSR’s Jacob Polacheck. Unamba becomes the third offensive lineman to pick the Cats, and there are likely several more additions coming to that unit.
A 6-foot-4, 330-pound native of Texas, Unamba began his college career at Kilgore Community College, where he was a two-time JUCO All-American.
Unamba signed with FAU in the class of 2023 but played sparingly while redshirting for the Owls, leading him to enter the transfer portal before landing at New Mexico.
This past season, Unamba played in 10 games, primarily at right tackle, while earning a 63.1 grade from Pro Football Focus. He logged 654 snaps at right tackle, 36 at left tackle, five at inline tight end, and four at left guard, so he gives Kentucky some added versatility and depth.
Unamba has one year of eligibility remaining. It’s unclear what kind of role Kentucky expects for him. Incoming Bowling Green transfer Alex Wollschlaeger is set to be the right tackle. Perhaps Unamba will be a swing tackle who logs snaps across the offensive line next season.
