Kentucky is 5-1 against Tennessee in their last six matchups!
Good morning, BBN!
What a night for the Kentucky Wildcats! They swept the season series with Tennessee behind a well-executed team win.
To say that BBN felt uneasy about this matchup coming into the game is an understatement, and you couldn’t blame them for feeling that way.
Jaxson Robinson was announced to be out on Monday evening, which no one expected.
However, the Cats came out hot, very similar to their start when they played in Knoxville a couple of weeks ago. They were 7/14 on 4-pointers in the first half to grab a nine-point lead.
Just like last game, Tennessee crawled their way back into the game and even took the lead for a brief moment. At the same time that happened, Butler went down with that shoulder injury, and things looked pretty gleam for Kentucky with about seven minutes left.
Seeing this team rally the way they did and close out the game on a 20-6 run after Butler’s injury was inspiring.
Koby Brea made some huge plays down the stretch along with Otega Oweh, and Trent Noah might have just been the player of the game last night, scoring 11 points on 3/4 triples.
If the Cats can pick up a win in Austin on Saturday, they could inch their way back into the top 10 on Monday, but it’ll be a massive challenge vs. the Horns with Butler and Robinson almost certainly out.
