Former UCF big man Moustapha Thiam is staying in the Big 12 conference. The 7-foot-2 center will be heading to Cincinnati, per multiple reports.
Thiam averaged 10.4 points and 6.4 rebounds for UCF last season while starting every game at the five spot. The Dakar, Senegal native shot 49.8% from the field and showed some shooting touch by knocking down 23-of-79 (29.1%) of his triples.
What stands out about Thiam’s game most is his defense. The 7-footer averaged 2.6 blocks last season and was the best shot blocker in the Big 12 conference by a wide margin, ahead of Houston’s Joseph Tugler. Thiam has played his one and only season in college with UCF.
Cincinnati and Wes Miller are starting to piece together an impressive roster after losing nine players to the transfer portal. Thiam joins a portal class of Kerr Kriisa, Sencire Harris and Jalen Haynes. The Bearcats also bring in two talented 2025 prospects in Keyshuan Tillery and Shon Abaev.
