On Wednesday, Cincinnati Athletics announced the passing of former head football coach/athletics director Dave Currey.
He was 80 years old.
Currey led the Bearcats’ football program on the sideline from 1984-88, and served as acting AD in 1984.

Before he arrived in Cincinnati, Currey served as head coach of Long Beach State from 1977-83. After his departure from the Bearcats program, he took over as athletics director for Chapman University — a position he held for 25 years (1990-2015). He was inducted to the Chapman Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017.
Currey also notched assistant coaching jobs with two other major programs: Stanford (1970-1876) and UCLA (1989).
Our thoughts are with the Currey family and all those who were close to him during this difficult time.
