Former Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Jason Kelce got to share a heartfelt moment with a student at the University of Cincinnati last Thursday.
Kelce presented Cincinnati defensive lineman Ben Blevins with the inaugural Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux scholarship.
Blevins was ecstatic about this moment, and rightfully so. It’s not everyday that you get a scholarship from an all-time great.
“For [this award] to come from Jason Kelce — one of the best to ever play for the University of Cincinnati — made it extra special,” Blevins said, via Fox News Digital.
Blevins won’t be the only athlete receiving a scholarship courtesy of Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux.
Legendary quarterback Drew Brees announced earlier this year that 13 walk-on college athletes would receive scholarships in honor of Kelce’s incredible NFL career.
“In honor of Jason Kelce’s retirement and his 13 remarkable seasons, we at Walk-Ons are offering this heartfelt tribute,” Brees said. “We are awarding 13 scholarships to college walk-on athletes across the country. These scholarships represent more than just financial aid. They’re a salute to the relentless spirit and the unwavering dedication that drives athletes to excel, mirroring the qualities that Jason Kelce showcased throughout his career.
“Jason, your legacy transcends the gridiron. It’s about the heart, the unyielding perseverance, and the deep belief in one’s potential. With this initiative, your inspirational spirit will continue to guide and motivate future generations. Thank you, and here’s to the spirit of the walk-on.”
We can’t wait to see more athletes in the future live out their dreams of receiving a scholarship.
