After several seasons as a member of the Bearcats’ defensive backfield, senior safety Jacob Dingle has announced he’s retiring.
Taking to Instagram to share the news, the upperclassman cited a recent neck injury as the reason he has to walk away:
After a recent neck injury I’ve decided to hang up the cleats. Wasn’t an easy decision because this is all I have known since I was a little kid.. I am beyond grateful for all the memories, challenges, and relationships I have made through out my career. I love everyone of my brothers I have met since the time I was at OCYFL, St. Pats, Trinity, and Cincinnati. I’m excited to see what the future holds for me as I finish up my postgraduate degree and help coach the Bearcats next season. Football, I’ll miss you!

It’s a tough loss for Cincinnati, who lose a veteran presence on the backend of their defense. Dingle played in 12 games last season where he logged 18 tackles, an interception and a pass defensed.
But like the Louisville, Kentucky native said: its not a goodbye as he’ll look to help coach the team this fall.
